Simeon's Sunday Musings

We were sitting at the dinner table tonight talking about church and the day etc. and Simeon, my 5 year old says, "What if heaven's really just a shack?" Hmmm? What if? :-)

Manti Temple Meeting

We just had Stake Conference this weekend for church and the meetings were especially uplifting to me this time. I think we have a really great stake presidency that are humble as well as humorous and inspiring. They have been really encouraging temple attendance this past year and today we learned part of the reason why. They are planning a special meeting for our stake to be held in the priesthood room of the Manti Temple in the fall. My understanding is that this room is only occasionally used for devotionals for temple workers. Planning this meeting required First Presidency approval which they finally received in early February. I'm just excited to be part of this historic meeting, in that beautiful historic building, and am anticipating that it will be a truly beautiful experience.

No Rice Cereal for Me!

So Thaddeus just turned 4 months old a few days ago; the age when many people start solids. I tend to wait until my kids are closer to 6 months to really try feeding them in earnest but its fun to let them have little tastes now and then. He sure enjoyed sucking on this chunk of ham the other night.

Bathroom Tile

My Mom wanted to know what the bathroom floor looked like so here it is. It still needs to be grouted but there are a few edge pieces I need to cement down and a few pieces around the toilet where the floor was pretty uneven that I want to fix first.

Yea for Grandparents!

My mom (Granny Curtis) stayed with us for the entire month of November after Thaddeus was born. We had so much fun!
My dad (Grampy) lives with us again and he was sorely missed the year that he was gone.
Abe's mom and dad (Grandma and Grandpa Kimball) live in Pleasant Grove and since we moved to Sanpete County we don't see them nearly as often as we used to or as we would like but its still a few times a month.
I am just so grateful that my kids have 4 awesome grandparents that are all a part of their lives. They get to see their grandparents so much more often then I got to see mine as a kid and are always so excited to see them. They all have been so helpful in different ways throughout our marriage and supportive of even our crazier schemes (taking a 6 month old baby on a backpacking trip to India comes to mind :-) ) So thank you and we love you to my 2 moms and dads!

Superbowl!

So, Notice in my last post that there was not a single mention of it being superbowl weekend. I soo scored in marrying a husband who cares as little about sports as I do. It really cracks me up and I try hard to bite my tongue when he feigns interest in an effort to be sociable. Now, don't get me wrong. We have nothing against sports and actually think its a really good idea to play sports for the physical activity and don't mind attending a live game now and then but we don't follow any sports or teams of any kind and I LOOOVE it! I know plenty of girls who enjoy and follow sports as well and enjoy watching them with their spouse or enjoy the girl time they get by sending their husband off with the guys to watch the game... but can I say, just one more time, how much I love that my husband doesn't watch sports! :-)

St. George Trip

Abe and I took a quick trip to St. George this weekend. He had to go down for work so we took advantage of it and left the older kids at home with my dad and had a bit of a get away. We visited this old pioneer home belonging to Jacob Hamblin. Abe's great grandparents had lived in this home at one point also.
We stopped and visited the cemetery where Abe's grandpa and quite a few other relatives are buried.
The nicest part of the trip was visiting Abe's Grandma, Grandma Barbara, and her husband Jack. She made us dinner and we had a nice visit. They loved having a chance to see Thaddeus and he was all smiles for them.

I sure hope I look even half this good when I am 87 years old. I think it is so cool that my kids know their great grandma as much as I knew my grandma. And she is even in the Relief Society Presidency in her ward still!
